So I just got my voxbox in from influester, and it’s full of treats from SlimFast!

It’s perfect timing for me; I’m starting a new job in January and could use some healthy snack to keep in my bag, as I’ll be driving all around Philly for work and school.

My package included:

Sour cream and onion crisps – which are already gone and fantastic

Cinnamon Bun Swirl drizzled crisps – they look so yummy!

A Chocolate protein shake – I’ve had these before when my mom went on her diets. One of the few protein shakes I could stand 🙂

Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Meal Replacement bar – combine salt and sweet and you got me hooked. Can’t wait to try these.

So far the crisps are keeping me full. I have a few hours left until New Year’s Eve dinner, so I need the snack!


Mason Jar Salads, Meal Prep Monday!

I’m back! So sorry for the delay. I’ve been super busy buying a house and all! I will make sure that as soon as I get my rooms all set up, pictures will be coming. I also have some projects I want to do to make my house my own.

So, as some of you may know, I’m extremely busy! I work full time, put in 15 hours at my internship, and have classes (although I’m currently on a break). So meal prep is necessary if I want to eat healthy and on a budget. I’ve recently fallen in love with mason jar salads. They’re simple to put together, and the mason jar keeps the food fresh. At my internship, I need something I don’t need to heat up and that I can eat quickly. I have sometimes 5 minutes between clients. These salads are a life saver.

Some notes before I continue: (1) I do not like lettuce. I attempt to avoid using lettuce as a green wherever possible. (2) I am indifferent towards quinoa, so I know almost nothing about the different types.

So this salad was inspired by the premade Spinach Power salad at Trader Joes. What you’ll need

1 bag fresh spinach
1 can garbanzo beans/chick peas
1 pack frozen edamame
1 cup cooked quinoa
Salad dressing of choice (I used a soy ginger sesame dressing).

I used Trader Joe’s frozen edamame, which only took 5 minutes to cook. Put down as much spinach as you want for your salad. I love spinach so I added a lot!. Then layer the quinoa, edamame, and chickpeas until the jar is full. I put my salad dressing into separate containers, because I don’t like soggy greens, but if this doesn’t bother you, or you need a one jar solution, put the dressing in first before laying down your spinach.


When you’re ready to eat, all you have to do is pour in the dressing, recap your jar, and shake!

Just a quick update to what’s going on in my life, so hopefully I can post some reviews/recipes/photos soon.

1.) I’m looking for a house! I know, exciting right? Hopefully I’ll have a place soon to do my own projects and for my dog to run around. Pictures to come when I finally find the right place.

2.) I’m starting my internship. I’m going to be working at an outpatient facility practicing mental health therapy with individuals of all ages. I’m so excited. I won’t be able to give you too many other details than that, but it’s going to be great!

3.) I am almost done school! I have two classes left. Which means a lot more time for you folks! Hope you’re excited, I sure am!

4.) I’ll be applying back to school in the fall. Say what??????????I just said I’m excited to be almost done! Ultimately I want to get my PhD and become a licensed psychologist. Hopefully a program will take me!

5.) I’ll be going to the Bahamas in May! Can’t wait! More to come soon.

On a side note, I realized I never really posted that I got a puppy! This happened back in August. I know, I know, I’m slacking. Her name is Tessa and she’s an uber mini doxie! (Miniature Dachshund). Here she is!

Her 1st birthday is next month (May 4) so expect some pictures and an update around then!

Jadore Vox Box!

Hey everyone, I’m back. And hopefully for good! I know I need to get back into this. I’m trying, I’m trying. I’m almost done all my classes, so hopefully I will have more time.

Anyway, today, I received my first ever VOX BOX! in the mail. It’s full of fantastic things complementary of influenster! As I use the products, I’ll let you know.

So far, I received a huge bag of Hershey Kisses! If you know me, you know I love chocolate; however, I don’t think I want to just use these on myself. So my friends and coworkers need to be prepared for some Hershey kisses recipes coming soon!

I also received John Frieda’s Frizz Ease Flat Iron Spray. I actually have a lot of trouble with my fly-aways, especially when dealing with heat. I am excited to try this product!

I was surprised by a 4 pack of Red Rose tea, in Crème Caramel and Lemon Chiffon samples. I love tea, and I am always looking for new brands and flavors! The Lemon Chiffon is decaf, so this may be for relaxing at night. 😀

Another surprise in the box was KissLashes. I’m not big on fake lashes, as I already have fairly long lashes, so I may pass these off to a friend to try out. I will let you know what they think!

Finally, I was provided with Botanics Iconic Clay mask. My face could use some exfoliating, and this weekend could use some relaxing…so I see this in my near future.

I’ll make sure to come back and update you all on how everything is! (Although I know the kisses are going to be amazing.)

Autumn in Philly

Autumn is my absolute favorite time of year. Up in Pennsylvania, everything becomes beautiful. The weather is perfect; light sweater weather, cute boots, but not unbearably cold. The foliage turns to a beautiful auburn and amber mix. And then all my favorite activities start. So I made a list here (with Mike’s help!) for things we need to get done in the fall. It is much shorter than summer’s list, but it has a lot of things we do every year. Here goes!

So sorry

Hello everyone! I’m so sorry for how long it’s been! I’ve been moving, started school again, and bought a puppy! I don’t even have my home computer set up yet :(. But I’ve been busy working for you! Right now I’m compiling a list of 100 things go do for fall. It’s going to be simpler than summer just because I have a lot less time. But it’ll be up soon! If you have suggestions let me know. This is my favorite time of year :). Talk to everyone soon!

Sorry about the delay!

Hello everybody, I’m back! Sorry about the delay, but don’t worry. I should be updating more often.

I recently went to San Diego, California on vacation. Mike had a conference, so all I had to pay for was my plane ticket and food. It was an amazing experience. We first stayed at the Gaslamp Plaza Suites, right in the heart of the historical Gaslamp district. It was a very nice hotel. The décor was very 1920’s, which I enjoyed, and the front desk was very helpful recommending places to eat and hang out. We tried a few different breweries, Rock Bottom Brewery and Beer Co., which had fantastic craft beers. We especially loved Beer Co. because the bartender put on the Phillies game for us. The next morning, we got to enjoy a continental breakfast on the rooftop terrace of the hotel. The breakfast wasn’t fantastic, just toast, pastries, cereal, etc. But the view was amazing.

On Saturday, we went to the San Diego Zoo. We decided to walk the whole thing, and man, was that a work out. It was fantastic, but then again I love animals. My favorite was the fennec fox, but he was sleeping when we came by. 😦

Sunday, we moved to our other hotel, the Hilton, and then hopped on a ferry to Coronado beach. The little town was cute, and we did some shopping for ourselves and family/friends. We spent a little time lying out on the beach and drinking beers by the ocean. On our walk back to the ferry, I met a little dachshund named Toby. We became the best of friends (I may have a slight obsession with dachshunds). The ferry ride back was not pleasant; the ferry to our location left before it was supposed to, and we had to take another ferry back that dropped us off about a mile from our hotel. The ferry captain was rude when I asked where our ferry was and didn’t answer me directly. Not so good experience.

Monday, while Mike was at his conference, I took a trolley tour that dropped me off at many different stops in San Diego. I was able to walk around Balboa Park, where there are many museums and gardens. The Japanese Friendship garden was gorgeous. I saw hummingbirds flit around the waterfalls, koi beg for food in a pond with a turtle shaped island, and beautiful flora arrangements. I was able to have lunch and tea here, and it was very relaxing, so serene. I moved on to go checkout some museums, hit the Air and Space Museum, and went to the Museum of Man. I’m a psychology person, so anything about “man” is usually interesting to me. They had an exhibit on torture equipment used throughout the ages, and I paid the extra money to see both the museum and special exhibit. Unfortunately the torture exhibit turned my stomach so much that I had to lap around quick and leave. My anxiety increased, so I went to the actual museum to see if it was any better. It was your standard museum about culture, evolution, etc. Again, I started getting very uncomfortable, so I decided it was time to head back to the trolley stop. I didn’t get off the trolley much after that, but enjoyed listening to the drivers talk about the city. San Diego was beautiful, and I would definitely move there again.

Summer Update:

-Coffee Shop Date: We found a cute little coffee shop in San Diego. I got to drink a “Dirty Chai” which was chai tea latte with a shot of espresso. Yum.
